Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 14, 2026

ssunm provides RunStory as a free app. This Privacy Policy explains what information RunStory processes, where it is stored, and how you can manage it.

Apple Health Data

With your permission, RunStory may read the following information from Apple Health:

  • Running workout start and end times, distance, and duration
  • Running routes
  • Heart rate, stride length, step count, and related running metrics available from Apple Health

This data is used to display home statistics, maps, routes, and detailed analysis. RunStory does not write data to HealthKit and does not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, data sales, or tracking. HealthKit-derived values such as distance, duration, heart rate, and routes are not sent to Amplitude.

Photo Library

With your permission, RunStory finds photos taken around the time of a run on your device and links them to that run. Original photos and thumbnails are not uploaded to RunStory or Amplitude servers.

The local asset identifiers needed to reconnect photos to runs may be stored with app data and synced to your private iCloud database. A local asset identifier is not a public URL and cannot display a photo outside the corresponding user’s photo library.

Location Data

With your permission, RunStory uses your current location on-device to show your position on the running map.

A center coordinate and region name derived from an Apple Health running route may be stored with app data to display runs on the map and sync them across devices. Location data is not used for location-based advertising or tracking.

Device Storage and iCloud Sync

RunStory stores run summaries, map center coordinates, region names, and photo asset identifiers in the app database on your device. When iCloud is enabled, this information may sync through Apple CloudKit to your private iCloud database. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

Product Analytics

RunStory uses Amplitude to understand and improve product quality. The following information may be sent to Amplitude:

  • A device identifier used to distinguish an app installation
  • Product interactions such as app launches, tab and screen views, onboarding steps, permission outcomes, and sync success
  • Basic technical context such as app version, device model, and operating system version

RunStory configures Amplitude not to collect IP address, country, city, DMA, or region information. RunStory does not use advertising SDKs and does not combine Amplitude data with data from other companies’ apps or websites for advertising or tracking.

Sample Run

The sample run included in the app uses a fictional route, generated images, and fixed metrics. Viewing it does not request Apple Health, photo, or location permissions, persist sample data, or send sample analytics events.

Support Requests

If you contact support by email, your email address and message may be stored by the email service. We use this information only to review and respond to your request.

Retention and Deletion

RunStory data on your device may remain until you delete records in the app or remove the app and its related iCloud data. Analytics and support information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to operate and secure the service or respond to requests, then deleted or de-identified.

See RunStory Support for permission and data management instructions. To request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, contact us at the email below.

Sharing and Sale

ssunm does not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties except where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, rights, and safety.

International Processing

Amplitude and email services may process information outside your country of residence. We take reasonable steps to ensure information is handled according to this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No transmission or storage method can guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

RunStory is not directed to children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If we learn that a child has provided personal information, we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy changes, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date.
